Chelmsford 6 - 4 Stanley Masons (A)

I’ve got a back problem which has prevented me playing (or even blogging) since last Thursday afternoon. Hopefully it’ll get sorted at the Doctors’ on Friday, but in the meantime here’s a brief summary of Tuesday night’s game.
I counted myself out of selection and was only on stand-by in case we had any no shows. I marked the board and supported the team.

We got off to a great start with a win in the opening Team game and then Jean and Peter won their Doubles game to make it 2-0. Roger and Willie lost their Doubles game, but three consecutive wins for Lena and Brian (Doubles), and Jean and Peter (Singles) put us into a commanding 5-1 lead.

Masons then rallied and won the next three games, beating Roger, Willie, and Lena. This made it 5-4, with everything riding on the final game, which was to decide whether it would be a 5-5 draw or a 6-4 victory.

Thankfully Brian won his Singles game to give us a deserved but narrow victory on the night. Brian was Man of the Match, with Jean and Peter also in the reckoning for winning all of the games they were involved with (Team, Doubles, and Singles).
